Combat Lifesaver Course Recertification
Welcome to the 240lh Regional Training Institutes Combat Lifesaver Recertification course. Once trained as a Combat Lifesaver (CLS), you must periodically refresh and update your skills as a CLS. Major revisions of the CLS program dictate that you make every effort to recertify every 12 months in order to keep up with the latest changes. The CLS recertification course is offered to hone your CLS skills and update you of any changes to the program. It is a 2 day course with some lecture, but mostly hands-on practice and testing. Because you have shown mastery of the CLS skills during the full course, you need only successfully complete the following tasks in order to become recertified:
- Apply an Emergency Bandage to an Extremity
- Apply a Combat Application Tourniquet: one-handed or two-handed
- Insert a Nasopharyngeal Airway
- Treat an Open Chest wound
- Perform Needle Chest Decompression
- Prepare casualty for evacuation using SKED or Talon litter
- Initiate Tactical Combat Casualty Care card
- Prepare and request MEDEVAC
There is no multiple choice written test associated with the recertification course. Once you are successful, it is your responsibility to inform your readiness NCO and have the recert documented in your records.
It is advised that you familiarize yourself with the content of the Student Guide, IS0871, edition C, prior to the recert course. If you do not have a Student Guide or if your Student Guide is outdated, use the following link to access an electronic version.
