How to Join the 195th Army Band
We are always looking for qualified musicians to increase the performance caliber of our ensembles. Auditions are not limited to those instruments with immediate openings, any highly qualified musician is encouraged to audition. By serving part-time in the 195th Army Band you can pay for college, perform professionally and have fun while making new friends and serving your community. As a Maine Army National Guard member you could qualify for an Enlistment Bonus, Student Loan Repayment Program, Montgomery GI Bill and Tuition Assistance (up to $4500 a year).
The 195th Army Band conducts auditions throughout the year for current and projected vacancies. Interested musicians may contact the 195th Army Band at 207-945-4144, to schedule an audition at their convenience. Audition information can be downloaded here Audition Forms [ZIP]. You may download the audition forms specific to each instrument and the rubric used to score the auditionee. A minimum score of 18 is required to be considered, a max score is a 36.
Once accepted, qualified applicants who are not prior military would be eligible to enlist through the Civilian Acquired Skills Program (CASP).This allows enlistment at the accelerated rank of Specialist (E4). New soldiers are then required to complete 9 weeks of Basic Training, followed by 10 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) held in Norfolk Virginia School of Music.
