LISA NICHOLS

152nd FA BN COORDINATOR

I nominate Lisa Nichols as a deserving volunteer and recommend her name be placed in a daily drawing held National Volunteer Week (April 16 – 22nd).

What would we do without Lisa!  She is one of the most organized individuals I know!  She gives of her time so unselfishly and has brought this program to a whole new level.  Ask a question and we can be confident that Lisa will find the answer.

She has supported this program with an open mind and full heart.  She has traveled from one end of the state to another to meet the needs of unit coordinators and their families in support of this most important program.

I remember one of our first quarterly meetings – in came Lisa with notebooks for each of her unit coordinators – color-coded notebooks with pocket folders for any and all events we would every think of having in each respective programs.  We couldn’t get more organized than that!

Volunteer, Lisa Nichols, you are our gold star!  THANKS AGAIN.

SALLY KING

 UNIT VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

Battery C, 152nd FA – Presque Isle

I nominate Sally King as a deserving volunteer and recommend her name be placed in a daily drawing held National Volunteer Week (April 16 – 22nd).

Sally is an active unit volunteer coordinator from Battery C, 152 FA in Presque Isle.  She has a true compassion for people which is very evident through her role as a National Guard military spouse, caretaker of three children, a homemaker and also working full time out side the home.  Her husband, Leeroy recently returned home from a year-long deployment in Oklahoma.

What began as volunteering to help organize an annual Christmas party, turned into a position as unit volunteer coordinator.  A temporary position that she has held nearly five years!  It is not an easy feat to juggle this many things at once and yet keep everyone’s well being in perspective at the same time.

She is an invaluable volunteer, lending a listening ear in any situation and having a special way of getting to the right person at the right time with any situation that may arise.

Sally King, you deserve the gold.  THANK YOU!

MRS. SAVAGE

3rd Grade Teacher at Teague Park School

Caribou, Maine

I nominate Mrs. Savage as a deserving volunteer and recommend her name be placed in a daily drawing held National Volunteer Week (April 16 – 22nd).

In late 2004, Mrs. Savage was faced with a new and different situation in her classroom.  One of her third grade students came to her with the news that the student’s National Guard father had been selected for deployment and would be heading to Iraq.

Mrs. Savage, being the unselfish teacher she is, rose to the occasion and took this student under her wing.  Mrs. Savage made the best of what could become a very stressful situation for the child and chose to educate the students in her third grade class on the situation, thus warding off bullying comments by fellow classmates, creating friendships and support, adopting the soldier thru letter writing, and later allowing classroom time for a personal visit from the soldier while he was home on leave and post-deployment.

Thank you, Mrs. Savage – you deserve a star for your special interest in the life of this student and others faced with such troubling situations.

ANGELA FARLEY

VOLUNTEER

Battery C, 152nd FA – Presque Isle

I nominate Angela Farley as a deserving volunteer and recommend her name be placed in a daily drawing held National Volunteer Week (April 16 – 22nd)

Angela is a new volunteer with Battery C, 152 FA in Presque Isle.  We have designated her as our fundraiser queen.  She joined us with a number of fundraising ideas and one of these ideas has already been initiated.  The “Patriotic Pennies” fundraiser has been presented and accepted in the Washburn School System – Fort Fairfield will hold this fundraiser in May, and Pine Street School, in Presque Isle, will participate in June or September of 2006.

Angela is the wife of Mike Farley who is in the 152nd FA.  Angela and Mike live in Washburn and their children attend school in Washburn.

We welcome Angela as a new member of our Family Readiness Program and appreciate the support of her husband and family.

            Angela Farley - THANK YOU!
