The AGR Program

The purpose of the Active Guard/Reserve (AGR) Program is to provide full-time "mobilizable" soldiers to improve the readiness of the Army National Guard.

AGR soldiers provide assistance in organizing, administering, paying, supplying, recruiting/retaining, instructing and training Army National Guard (ARNG) soldiers and organizations.

AGR soldiers provide skills, stability, continuity and full-time availability that cannot be reasonably obtained by using M-Day or traditional Guardsmen. The program in the MEARNG began in the late 1970’s and early 80’s and has grown into the career opportunity it is today.
