Becoming a Warrant Officer
Minimum Requirements
These are the basic requirements for anyone wishing to become a warrant officer in the Maine National Guard.
- Be a U.S. citizen by birth or naturalization.
- Be a high school graduate or pass the GED.
- Must have proficiency in the English language.
- Score 110 or above on the General Technical area of the Armed Forces Vocational Apptitude Battery (ASVAB).
- Successfully pass all events on the Army Physical Fitness Test and meet height/weight standards.
- Must possess a valid final or interim secret clearance (some specialties may require higher).
Aviator Warrants
- Be a current MENG member in good standing.
- Must have an approved flight application by age 33.
- Score a minimum of 90 on the Alternate Flight Aptitude Selection Test (AFAST).
- Successfully pass a Class 1A flight physical.

Technical Warrants
- Between the ages of 18 and 46.
- Most specialties require a minimum grade of E-5, though specific requirements vary.
- Qualify in the correct feeder MOS.
