The War of 1812

The War of 1812 was felt in Maine as increased taxation and a feeling of insecurity permeated the state. From the spring of 1813 until the end of the war British sloops were constant along the coast, threatening cities and villages. Again Maine soldiers fought to preserve the Nation participating in battles from 1812 to 1814.
