Our Proud History
The Korean War
During the Korean conflict many Maine guardsmen volunteered for service, however none of Maine’s units were sent. The 703rd Gun Battalion and the 703rd Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion were mobilized with the Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion being ordered into active Federal Service on August 14, 1950 at South Portland to serve at installations within the continental United States. They were released from active service on April 13th, 1952.
